Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare
The title is still stupid, but everything else in Call of Duty's stellar space-faring trailer is on point - the way the intensity is ratcheted up, for example, as well as the ways the characters move, be it in a plane, weightless in zero gravity or charging around the place like a normal Call of Duty game.
Kit Harington of Game of Thrones fame is playing the bad guy, and this looks like just the kick in the butt the franchise needs to come up with a few new ideas. If not, it'll still likely lead to some excellent zero-g multiplayer shenanigans, so it's hard not to be excited.
Dead Rising 4
#Frankisback - that's the message from Dead Rising 4's release trailer, that award-winning journalist and zombie killing expert Frank West is back in business, and ready to take part in Dead Rising's ridiculous world again.
Dead Rising 3 made a lot of bad design choices but at its core was still fantastic fun - with a return of cooperative play and a map with a ludicrous variety in both places to visit and crazy weapons to maim zombies with, Dead Rising 4's winter wonderland could end up as a Christmas miracle.
Titanfall 2
Titanfall 2 makes Titanfall look like a concept demo. A full single-player campaign (with your robotic titan playing the role of your loyal dog), enhanced graphics and a grapple hook to help you move with more speed (and sneakily mount enemy Titan's in multiplayer) are all solid additions, but add in the Titan mounted melee weapons and I'm salivating.
I've put the multiplayer trailer up above rather than the single-player one, because I think the multiplayer will really shine this time. It looks great; the attention to detail has been stepped up, and did you see that bit at the end of the trailer where the pilot ejected from his doomed Titan, grappled to the enemy pilot that'd also ejected from his mech and kicked him in the face? I want to do that. I want to do that repeatedly.
Mafia III
Mafia III wasn't on my radar at all until I watched the stream in the middle of Sunday night's big conferences, but after watching it I'm a big believer in 2k's forthcoming crime-'em-up.
There's a lot that you can't see in that trailer - the game's music, the way you carve up the city and have to feed parts of it to your underlings, allowing them to grow stronger alongside you, but not strong enough that they can betray you. The period weaponry and cars, even the novelty of taking out hoodlums in New Orleans instead of one of the done to death cities like L.A, Miami or New York City. Lincoln Clay's story looks to be a good one, and I'll be looking forward to this one come October.
